Consequently, the board has decided to conduct a retake of the exam. Prior to commencing exam preparations, it is essential for the candidates appearing for the PSTET Exam Pattern 2023 to have a clear understanding of both the PSTET 2023 Exam Pattern and PSTET 2023 Syllabus.

PSTET Exam Pattern Paper I & Paper II

Candidates will be selected based solely on their performance in the written exam during the PSTET Exam Pattern 2023. It is important for candidates to understand that clearing the PSTET Exam will grant them an eligibility certificate, but it does not guarantee employment. The exam consists of two papers:

PSTET Exam Pattern 2023 Structure & Content of PSTET

For students appearing in the PSTET Exam Pattern 2023, it is important to note the following key points:

  • All questions in the exam will be in the form of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
  • There will be no negative marking, so students can attempt all questions without fear of losing marks.
  • Candidates have the option to appear for both Paper I and Paper II.
  • The section on Child Development and Pedagogy will primarily focus on educational psychology relevant to the age group of 6-11 years. Approximately 70 percent of the questions will cover Units (a) and (b) mentioned in the syllabus, while the remaining 30 percent will be related to Learning and Pedagogy.
  • Language I (Punjabi) questions will emphasize proficiencies related to the medium of instruction, with around 45-50 percent of the test items focusing on the pedagogy of language development.
  • Language II (English) questions will concentrate on language elements, communication, and comprehension skills. Similarly, around 45-50 percent of the test items will pertain to the pedagogy of language development.
  • Mathematics and Environmental Studies questions will assess conceptual understanding, problem-solving abilities, and pedagogical comprehension. In both subjects, pedagogical understanding will account for 25-30 percent of the questions.
  • The questions in Paper I and Paper II will be based on the topics prescribed in the syllabus for es I to V and VI to XII, respectively. However, the difficulty level and connections between topics may extend up to the Secondary stage.
