PSTET Eligibility 2024
Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) releases the state-level entrance examination PSTET every year. Candidates have enough time to prepare for the exam and secure a place in their respective fields. The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) released the PSTET Notification 2024 in the Employment Newspaper on December 10, 2023. Before applying, candidates must ensure that they fulfil all the PSTET Eligibility Criteria including educational qualification, PSTET exam age limit etc. to avoid discrepancies later.
PSTET Eligibility 2024 Overview

PSTET Eligibility Criteria 2024 Overview
Candidates interested in applying for the Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) 2024 must meet certain eligibility criteria set forth by the exam conducting authority. The eligibility criteria are determined based on the candidates’ age and educational qualifications for both primary and elementary stages of teaching.
PSTET Educational Qualification 2024
The educational qualification required for PSTET varies depending on the level of the teaching post:
Teacher for the Primary Stage (Classes I-V):
Candidates applying for teaching positions for es I to V must meet one of the following educational qualifications:
- Option 1: Secured at least 50% marks in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) and passed or in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
- Option 2: Attained at least 45% marks in Secondary (or its equivalent) and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, as per NCTE norms.
- Option 3: Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks and completed or currently enrolled in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- Option 4: Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
- Option 5: Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) are eligible for becoming Teachers for Classes I-V. Such candidates are required to undergo a six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE within two years of appointment as a primary teacher.
Teacher for the Elementary Stage (Classes VI-VIII):
Candidates applying for teaching positions for es VI to VIII must fulfill one of the following educational qualifications:
- Option 1: Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
- Option 2: Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
- Option 3: Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), following the NCTE norms.
- Option 4: Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- Option 5: Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
- Option 6: Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in a 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).
