North Central Railway Exam Pattern 2023

The Computer Based Test (CBT) will feature questions in the Multiple Choice Objective Type format, with English as the default language. However, candidates have the option to select another language from the drop-down list, including Hindi, Urdu, and local languages like Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, and Konkani. It’s important to note that when submitting the online application, candidates must indicate their preference for one of these languages. In the event of any differences, discrepancies, or disputes between the English version and the chosen language regarding the questions, the content of the English version will take precedence. Therefore, we advise you to check the below tables for the post wise North Central Railway Exam Pattern 2023. Additionally, there will be a Computer Based Aptitude Test, but this is only applicable to candidates who have chosen the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) position.

GDCE for Assistant Loco Pilots/ Technicians

The marks scored in Part A alone shall be used for short listing of candidates for further stages of recruitment process subject to the condition that the candidate is securing qualifying mark in the Part B. The CBT shall have two parts viz. Part A and Part B as detailed below.

Note: There will be negative marking in the CBT examination and marks will be deducted for each wrong answer @ 1/3 of the marks allotted for each question.

GDCE for Junior Engineer of Various Departments

The questions in the NCR GDCE 2023 will be of an objective type, featuring multiple-choice options. These questions are expected to cover a range of subjects, including General Awareness, Physics, Chemistry, Basics of Computers and Applications, Basics of Environment and Pollution Control, and Technical abilities specific to the post you are applying for. It’s worth noting that the syllabus for General Awareness, Physics, Chemistry, Basics of Computers and Applications, Basics of Environment, and Pollution Control is the same for all the positions that have been advertised. This ensures a level playing field for all candidates in these core subjects.

North Central Railway ALP/ Technician Syllabus

Part A

a. Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern, etc.
b. General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and decision making, Similarities and differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions, etc.
c. Basic Science and Engineering: The broad topics that are covered under this shall be Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy, etc.

North Central Railway Junior Engineer Syllabus 2023

a) General Awareness: Knowledge of Current affairs, Indian geography, culture, and history of India including freedom struggle, Indian Polity, and constitution, Indian Economy, Environmental issues concerning India and the World, Sports, General scientific and technological developments etc.
b) Physics and Chemistry: Up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus.
c) Basics of Computers and Applications: Architecture of Computers; input and Output devices; Storage devices, Networking, Operating Systems like Windows, Unix, and Linux; MS Office; Various data representation; Internet and Email; Websites & Web Browsers; Computer Virus.
d) Basics of Environment and Pollution Control: Basics of Environment; Adverse effect of environmental pollution and control strategies; Air, water and Noise pollution, their effect and control; Waste Management, Global warming; Acid rain; Ozone depletion.

North Central Railway Guard/ Train Manager Syllabus
