RBI Assistant Selection Process
The selection procedure for RBI Assistant 2023 will be conducted in three phases as mentioned below. The candidates who want to grab the job opportunity of Assistant in the banking sector have to qualify in each stage of the selection procedure.
- RBI Assistant Preliminary Exam
- RBI Assistant Mains Exam
- Language Proficiency Test (LPT)
The preliminary examination and main examination. The major sections covered are:
- English Language
- Quantitative Aptitude and
- Reasoning
The above-mentioned three sections are the common sections asked in both the preliminary exam and the main exam. An additional section of General Awareness and Computer Knowledge is asked in the Mains Exam apart from the above-mentioned three sections. Sectional cut-off as well as the overall cut-off for each phase of the examination must be cleared by a candidate in order to get selected for further rounds of the RBI Assistant Exam.

RBI Assistant Preliminary Exam Pattern
- There will be 100 questions from 3 sections; English language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability
- The time duration of the RBI Assistant Prelims Exam is 60 minutes (each section for 20 minutes).
- There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer, no deduction for unanswered questions.
- The questions will be of Objective type
- Except for English Language, other sections will be in English and Hindi.
- The marks of the Prelims Exam will not be counted in the merit list, as the Prelims exam is qualifying in nature.

- There will be 200 questions from 5 sections; English language, Quantitative Aptitude, Computer Knowledge, General Awareness, and Reasoning Ability
- The time duration of the RBI Assistant Mains Exam is 135 minutes. Section-wise timing has been mentioned below.
- There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer, no deduction for unanswered questions.
- The questions will be of an Objective type
- Except for English Language, other sections will be in English and Hindi language.
- Candidates qualifying Mains Exam will be called for Language Proficiency Test and marks will be counted in preparing the merit list.

Language Proficiency Test (LPT)
The candidates provisionally shortlisted from the main online examination will have to undergo a language proficiency test (LPT). The language proficiency test will be conducted in the Official / Local Language of the State concerned as detailed below. The candidate who is not proficient in the official/ Local Language will be disqualified.
Only such a number of candidates will be called for the Language Proficiency Test who stand sufficiently high in merit based on the aggregate marks of the main online examination, Such merit will be decided by the Bank in relation to the number of notified vacancies to be filled in.
