TNEA 2024 Eligibility Criteria
You must meet the eligibility criteria of TNEA 2024 to be able to fill out the application form.
The eligibility criteria for TNEA 2024 are as follows:
- Nativity
- You must have studied in Tamil Nadu from class VIII to class XII.
- You must be a Tamil Nadu native if you have completed your class VIII to class XII in some other region/ outside Tamil Nadu. You need to submit an original nativity certificate in electronic form / digitally signed e-certificate.
- If your parents are central government employees in Tamil Nadu from the last five years then you are eligible for TNEA 2024.
- If your parents are All India Service Tamil Nadu Cadre Officers, you are eligible and need self-declaration from the parent.
Srilankan Tamil Refugee
If you belong to a Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee who has studied in Tamil Nadu, then you are eligible for TNEA 2024. You need the given certificate for TNEA 2024:
- Certificate of Identity from Head Quarters Tahsildar.
- Original Passport, Visa and letter registered with the police station are needed for candidates who have not registered in the refugee camp.
- Qualifying Examination
You must pass your HSC (+1 and +2) to be able to register for TNEA 2024. A list of required percentages for different categories is given below:

TNEA 2024 Registration
You can fill out the application form is available now. Step by step registration for TNEA 2024 is given below:
- Go to the official website of TNEA 2024.
- Click on the ‘registration’ tab.
- Fill in the necessary details such as name, email ID, mobile number, country etc.
- Click submit. An application number will be sent to your registered email address and mobile number.
After registering on the TNEA portal, you can fill out the application form. Follow the given steps to fill TNEA 2024 application form:
- Go to the TNEA 2024 official website.
- Login using your credentials. (application number and password) The application form will be visible on the screen.
- Fill in your registration information, name, email address, mobile number, date of birth, and whether +1 passed.
- Enter your personal information including your parent’s name, address, nationality, nativity, native district, civil status of native place, mother tongue, religion, community, caste name, and aadhaar number.
- Fill special reservation information and scholarship information.
- Now, enter school study information and academic details.
- Review the application and make the payment.
TNEA 2024 Registration fee
The application fee for TNEA 2024 is INR 500 for the non-reserved category and INR 250 for reserved category. You can pay the registration fee by debit/credit card, UPI,Net banking and DD.

For special reservation
- Relevant certificate for child of ex-service men with parent’s discharge certificate and ID Card.
- Medical certificate (consists of 3 doctors) for differently abled persons.
- Sports achievement certificates with necessary forms for eminent sports persons.
TNEA 2024 Syllabus
There is no syllabus for TNEA 2024. The reason is because of the selection process completely based on counselling. Therefore, no exam is scheduled for candidates. Your high school marks will be considered as the base of selection. You have to register and appear for the TNEA 2024 counselling for the admissions.
TNEA 2024 Merit List
The merit list for TNEA 2024 is based on marks obtained in three subjects. Marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will be reduced to 200 marks (100 marks maths + 50 marks physics +50 marks chemistry) and a merit list will be declared.
TNEA 2024 Counselling
TNEA counselling has three rounds. Different groups of applicants will be formed for counselling based on the merit list. You have to login into your TNEA portal with User ID and password. Several activities will be performed through the TNEA portal during the counselling round.
Six confirmation options will be shown to the candidates during the seat allotment stage. The six confirmation options are:
- Accept and Join: When you are satisfied with the allotted seat.
- Accept and Upward: When you are satisfied with the allotted seat but wish to wait for higher order.
- Decline and Upward: When not satisfied with the seat allotment and wish to wait for higher order.
- Decline and move to the next round: When you are not satisfied with the seat allotment and want to move to the next round.
- Decline and Quit: When you are not satisfied with the seat allotment and do not wish to participate in further rounds.
- Upward and move to next round : When you are not allotted a seat by all the choices. You can wait for upward movement for the seat allotment. If no seat is allotted during upward movement, you can move to the next round.
